Frequently Asked Questions
ABOUT US
What does "GENA" stand for?
GENA is a play on words combining our family's first initials. It represents our family's commitment to this venture and the personal care we put into every product.
What makes GENA Bakehouse different from other bakeries?
Our commitment to local ingredients, transparency, small-batch precision, and community partnerships sets us apart. We blend family recipes with modern approaches, creating comfort foods that honor both nostalgia and quality. We are a fully incorporated and licensed Arizona cottage bakery (CF-114540) based in Gilbert, AZ, specializing in banana bread and baked goods made from locally sourced Arizona ingredients.
Where do you bake your products?
We operate from our licensed home kitchen in Gilbert, Arizona, serving the East Valley of the Phoenix metro area. This allows us to maintain the small-batch approach that defines our quality.
Are you licensed and certified to sell food in Arizona?
Yes! We are registered with the Arizona Department of Health Services and hold a valid Food Handler Certificate and Cottage Food Registration (CF-114540).
INGREDIENTS & SOURCING
Where do you source your ingredients?
We prioritize sourcing from local Arizona farms and suppliers whenever possible. This includes everything from flour mills to seasonal fruits and nuts, supporting our local agricultural community while ensuring peak freshness.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
We're developing options for common dietary needs including gluten-free and vegan alternatives. Please contact us directly to discuss specific requirements, and we'll work with you to find suitable options.
Do your products contain allergens?
Our products may contain wheat, eggs, dairy, and nuts. We are required by law to note that our kitchen may also come into contact with common food allergens.
How fresh are your products?
All items are baked to order in small batches, typically within 24 hours of delivery or pickup. We never sell day-old products - freshness is non-negotiable.
